Background
In August 1663, peasants in the village of Robozero (Vologda Oblast, Russia) witnessed a large flaming object descend from a clear sky and hover over the nearby lake for approximately an hour and a half.
The object illuminated the lake bottom to a depth of about thirty feet (9 meters), causing fish to flee, and remarkably disappeared and returned twice.
