Brühl, Germany: Scarlet fireball rises quickly, hovers for minutes and disappears
On July 26, 1884, at 8:22 p.m., several observers in Brühl in the Rhineland saw a scarlet fireball as large as a harvest moon rise rapidly, hang apparently stationary for several minutes and then disappear.
Background
At 8:22 p.m. several observers in Brühl, Rhineland, Germany, saw a scarlet fireball "as large as a harvest moon". It moved upward at a rapid speed. It then remained apparently stationary for several minutes before disappearing in the sky. W. M. Flinders Petrie reported the observation in Nature in August 1884. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
