Llanberis, Wales: Admiral Ommanney sees luminous disc emit orange flash
At 10:30 p.m. on August 26, 1894, Admiral Erasmus Ommanney saw a luminous disc-shaped object in Cassiopeia from outside his hotel in Llanberis, Wales; it emitted an orange flash and vanished after 5 minutes.
Background
At 10:30 p.m. Admiral Erasmus Ommanney was standing outside the hotel in Llanberis, Wales, when he saw a luminous disc-shaped object "about three times the diameter of Jupiter" in the constellation Cassiopeia. It discharged an orange flash of light in the direction of Perseus. The disc suddenly disappeared after 5 minutes. The orange light persisted for 30 more seconds before fading. Ommanney described the observation as an "Extraordinary Phenomenon" in Nature on September 27, 1894. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
