Background

At night a man in Denton, Texas, was watching the stars with binoculars when he noticed a shadow crossing the Moon. It was caused by a large cigar-shaped object with wings moving slowly to the southeast, with a powerful searchlight at the front and a row of lighted windows along the side. The object remained in sight for 20 minutes. A woman also saw what was possibly the same object, describing it as "bounding along through space like a balloon." The report appeared in the Galveston Daily News and the Dallas Morning News on April 15, 1897. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
