Background
At night an airship with red, green and white lights landed on a farm near Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Five witnesses saw an odd-looking man in a fur coat emerge and walk to the farmhouse of Melvin Bannister, whose dogs were barking fiercely; the stranger pointed a lantern-like device at the dogs and sent them running. Bannister conversed awkwardly with the man, who spoke an odd language, and lent him a hammer, some nails and a can of skim milk. The man returned the tools together with a strange coin, and the airship took off with a whizzing sound. Eberhart cites the Eau Claire Leader of 17 April 1897 and Clark. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
