Background
Before sunrise Augustus Rodgers, a farmer living two miles south of Louisville, Kentucky, went outside to attend to his livestock. He saw an oblong object, some 40 feet long and 15 feet tall, flying about 400 feet in the air at 100 mph. His wife came out and watched it with him, and both saw "a form like that of a man" standing in the front and directing its course. Eberhart cites the Louisville Evening Post of 13 April 1897.
