Williamston, Michigan: Balloon-like craft lands near farmers, tall occupant kicks witness
In the early morning of 17 April 1897, more than a dozen farmers watch a balloon-like craft for about an hour before it lands about 1.5 miles southwest of Williamston, Michigan; a very tall figure appears to be in charge of it.
Background
Early in the morning of 17 April 1897, after being observed for about an hour by more than a dozen farmers, a balloon-like craft descends and lands about 1.5 miles southwest of Williamston, Michigan. Farmers gathering at the site report a strange figure nearly 9.5 feet tall who appears to be in charge of the craft; the being wears heavy clothing resembling polar-bear pelts but seems overheated and mostly uncovered. When one farmer approaches, the figure kicks him and reportedly breaks his hip. The figure attempts to communicate in loud, musical bellowing sounds while people from nearby Okemos and Locke gather to watch from afar; witnesses say the craft appears damaged and unable to depart. The story is reported in the Lansing State Republican of the same day. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
