At 9:45 p.m. Fred Harrison of King's Lynn, Norfolk, England, saw a "long, dark object" moving swiftly overhead just above treetop level. It carried a searchlight that illuminated the road, farm buildings, trees and everything it touched. Eberhart cites the London Daily Express of May 14, 1909, and David Clarke's study of the 1909 airship wave over Britain in Fortean Studies 6 (1999). The account follows the entry in George M.
