Background

A Mrs. Wigg, who lived near Belle Vue Park on Yarmouth Road in Lowestoft, Suffolk, was woken at 1:30 a.m. by an engine-like sound. From her window she saw a long, dark, bottle-shaped object pass by at a low altitude, and she thought she could see a man in front steering the craft. Other people in Lowestoft heard engine sounds and saw flashes of light around the same time. The case belongs to the British airship wave of 1909. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
