Background

After 10:00 p.m. a brilliant light the size of a tennis ball appeared in a garden at Shuttlewood, Derbyshire. When the witness approached, it moved away at a leisurely pace, passed through wire netting, followed the top of a hedge and rose to a break in the high branches of a tree, where it hovered for 3 minutes. The witness then noticed that his neighbor's farm was illuminated with bright white light. Several minutes later the sphere returned, hovered another 3 minutes and approached the witness, turning from white to orange; it then moved along hedges, across a field and around a row of houses before soaring into the sky and disappearing. The light was seen for 40 minutes in all. Eberhart cites Ananda Sirisena in Flying Saucer Review (1975), Mark Ian Birdsall in Quest International (1991) and Clark's encyclopedia. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
