Background

Observation

In late June 1942 at 16:00, Mr and Mrs Bonardi, together with several farmers, saw a blue, oval object with a silver-grey dome in the woods near Cussey-sur-l'Ognon, Doubs, France. The craft hovered low above the ground and gave off mechanical sounds. Light shone out from the telescopes.

Approach and Departure

The witnesses came within 20 metres, but the object rose vertically and disappeared after 6–10 minutes. A circle 1.5 metres across remained in the grass, along with visible tripod landing gear.

Sources and Significance

Reported by Michel Bougard in La Chronique des O.V.N.I. (1977, p. 261). An early European sighting with landing traces during wartime, potentially relevant to military UFO interest.
