Background

At 11:30 a.m. flight instructor Kenneth Jones out of Elkhorn, Wisconsin, was practicing take-offs and landings with a student near Koshkonong. They watched a disc descend vertically on edge through the alto-cumulus clouds at 6,000 feet, stop at 4,000 feet, assume a horizontal orientation and fly horizontally for 15 seconds, covering 23 miles at 5,500 mph. At one point it headed straight toward them on a course of about 120Β°, then stopped again, apparently overhead, and disappeared. Eberhart cites Sparks, Bloecher, Loren E. Gross and two pages of the PURSUE release. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
