Background

At 10:15 p.m. Louisville Times photographer Al Hixenbaugh was at Preston Street and Bickels Lane in Louisville, Kentucky, when he noticed three "fiery balls" in the sky. He took a 5-second exposure that captured two of the objects as slightly curved streaks. He estimated they were 1–2 miles away, moving at 200 mph at an altitude of 1,000–2,000 feet. Robert Delara of West Market Street also saw the three objects shooting northward. The sighting was reported by the Louisville Times and the Cincinnati Enquirer and listed in Ted Bloecher's study of the 1947 wave. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
