Muroc Army Air Field, California: XP-84 test pilot sees oscillating yellowish-white object
At 10:10 a.m. on 7 July 1947 XP-84 test pilot Maj. Jowell C. Wise and several others on a runway at Muroc Army Airfield, California, watched a yellowish-white object fly west with an oscillating motion.
Background
At 10:10 a.m., on a runway on the west side of Rogers Dry Lake at Muroc Army Airfield (now Edwards Air Force Base) in southern California, XP-84 test pilot Maj. Jowell C. Wise and several others saw a yellowish-white object at 10,000β12,000 feet. It traveled west in an oscillating motion at about 200 mph. At one point it stopped, then continued in horizontal flight. Wise described the sighting in an affidavit dated 13 August 1947; the case appears in NICAP's files, in Brad Sparks' list of Blue Book unknowns and in documents of the PURSUE release. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
