Background

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that the Air Research Center at Wright Field, Ohio, and the army intelligence service were looking into the flying discs. An INS dispatch stated that Commander of the Army Air Force Gen. Carl Spaatz had asked Wright Field to look into such reports. Air Materiel Command's Lt. Gen. Nathan F. Twining told Idaho Statesman reporter David N. Johnson that officials were indeed looking into the discs and that Wright Field had no comparable technology. Wright Field public relations officer Lieut. William C. Anderson said there was no confirmation that the discs existed, and Maj. Paul Gaynor said the Army Air Force needed more concrete information. German scientists working at Wright Field said they had heard nothing about any such experiments in Europe. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
