Background
At 7:35 p.m. on January 7, 1948, base personnel at Clinton County AFB near Wilmington, Ohio, watched a quickly maneuvering object. It danced up and down and changed from red to green before speeding off to the southwest. Sgt. LeRoy Ziegler thought he could detect a faint exhaust trail. Project Sign identified the object as Venus, because it disappeared at about the time Venus did. The sighting was reported in the Wilmington News-Journal the next day. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
