Background

At 2:00 p.m. on April 8, 1948, various witnesses at Ashley, Ohio, reported a clearly outlined object, first observed at an angle and moving slowly southwest. The object was cylindrical and seemed to have a vapor around the top, with the sun shining off it. One witness called it opalescent; another said it was apparently very large, about the size of a full moon in height but smaller in width, and very high up. The Air Force analyst suggested a vertical meteor trail, but the witnesses stated that the object first moved at an angle and then righted itself and flew vertically; the sighting lasted roughly 10 minutes. At 2:30 p.m., multiple witnesses at Delaware, Ohio, saw another object. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
