Hamel, Minnesota: Small round object lands between two boys, ground shows pressure marks
Shortly after noon on August 11, 1948, Jerome Leuer, 10, and Benno Leuer, 5, playing outside near Hamel, Minnesota, saw a round gray or silver object about 2 feet across drop down and land 8 feet away before flying off; a CIC special agent later found a spot where the ground showed signs of extreme pressure.
Background
Between 12:00 and 12:15 p.m. Jerome Leuer, 10, and Benno Leuer, 5, playing outside near Hamel, Minnesota, saw a round, dull gray or silver object 2 feet in diameter and 1 foot thick, like inverted plates, approach them from the northwest. It dropped down between the boys from a height of 12 feet and landed 8 feet away like a balloon, with a metallic clinking sound and a noise like a train whistle. It spun once, shot up 20 feet, whistled again, hovered, shot up to 30 feet, maneuvered to avoid phone lines and trees and flew away to the northeast. CIC Special Agent Capt. Charles L. Victor found an area 2 feet in diameter where the ground showed signs of extreme pressure. Eberhart cites NICAP, Sparks and pages of the PURSUE release. The account follows the entry in George M.
