Katrineholm, Sweden: Brilliant 'sky octopus' with fiery streamers visible for three hours
On August 21, 1948, a possible rocket trail resembling a brilliant star surrounded by streamers of fire was seen over Katrineholm, Sweden, for three hours.
Background
On August 21, 1948, a possible Russian rocket trail was seen over Katrineholm, Sweden, and remained visible for three hours. It was described as resembling a brilliant star surrounded by streamers of fire like the tentacles of an octopus. There is no known record of a V-2 or R-1 launch from Kapustin Yar on that date. It may be the same object that Swedish Supreme Commander Helge Jung described as an aerial explosion considered to be some form of guided missile originating from the Estonian islands. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
