Oak Ridge, Tennessee: Radiation counters register rise as UFO is seen and tracked on radar
In July 1951 a UFO was seen visually and on radar over Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Tennessee, and the radiation-counter network set up by Lt. Col. John R. Hood registered a significant rise in emission.
Background
Lt. Col. John R. Hood had set up a radiation-counter network at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in December 1950. In July 1951 a UFO appeared over the facility and was sighted both visually and on radar. Hood found that the counters had detected a significant rise in some kind of emission. He wanted to expand the equipment and add a debris-catching pursuit plane. Eberhart notes that information on the case and any follow-up is lacking. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
