United States: JANAP 146(B) issued, UFO reports from aircraft go to Air Defense Command
On 6 September 1951 the Air Force issued JANAP 146(B), under which all UFO reports from aircraft were to go to the Air Defense Command, the Secretary of Defense and the nearest US military command.
Background
On 6 September 1951 the Air Force issued JANAP 146(B), 'Communications Instructions for Reporting Vital Intelligence Sightings from Aircraft.' Under the directive, all UFO reports were to go to the Air Defense Command in the Pentagon, to the Secretary of Defense and to the nearest US military command. According to Eberhart, the Air Defense Command would presumably pass them on to the Air Materiel Command at Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
