Background

At 10:35 p.m. Tormod Sire, 19, noticed a bright campfire-like glow across the valley from the family home in Torpo, Buskerud. The light rose above the mountains and became a luminous globe; he called his father Torkel Sire, 54, and his sister Karla, 16, and the three watched it through opera glasses. For about 25 minutes the ball hovered, climbed and made rapid, controlled side-to-side and up-and-down movements while its brightness pulsed; at one point it paused near the power lines of the nearby electrical plant. Finally it climbed over the mountains opposite, swept the wooded slopes with a searchlight-like beam and abruptly disappeared. Verdens Gang reported the sighting on June 7, 1952. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
