Background

At 10:00 a.m., several employees of the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory, New Mexico, including Robert B. Leachman, W. Schafer and E. T. Jurney, saw a white object moving from east to west with a gyrating motion. Two jet interceptors from Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque arrived five minutes later. The object disappeared but reappeared in front of the jets, made a 360ยฐ turn, came around behind them and followed for two minutes, then disappeared. The case is cited by NICAP ('Jets Scrambled from Kirtland'), by Sparks and in The Hynek UFO Report. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
