Manhattan Beach, California: Large silvery object separates into seven discs
At 6:35 p.m. on July 27, 1952, eight pilots and engineers saw a large silvery object at high altitude over Manhattan Beach, California, separate into seven discs that formed groups, circled and sped out of sight.
Background
At 6:35 p.m. on July 27, 1952, a group of eight pilots and engineers saw a large, silvery object moving rapidly at high altitude over Manhattan Beach, California. After it made a turn, the object separated into seven discs that formed into groups, circled and sped out of sight. Former Navy pilot and aircraft engineer J. E. Kempf said the formation looked like a 'stack of coins.' NICAP lists the case as 'Large Object Separates into 7 Discs'; it also appears in Sparks's list of Blue Book unknowns and in Michael D. Swords's 2010 IUR article 'Intelligent Motions'. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
