Nevada: Truman Bethurum says he boards a saucer and meets its captain Aura Rhanes

According to his account, heavy-equipment operator Truman Bethurum was napping between shifts in the Nevada desert in the early morning when eight small men who seemed to be of Latin extraction woke him. They took him to a nearby flying saucer, where he met the captain, a woman of Latin appearance with coal-black hair who seemed about 42 years old but was said to be hundreds of years old. Her name was Aura Rhanes, her ship was called a 'scow', and her crew came from the planet Clarion, said to be always on the other side of the moon. Bethurum told the story in Saucers magazine in 1953 and in his 1954 book Aboard a Flying Saucer, ghostwritten by Mary Kay Tennison. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
