Background

At 9:40 p.m. an Aircraft and Warning Station in Port Huron, Michigan, tracked an unidentified return on radar for 20 minutes. Ground-controlled intercept asked Capt. Edward J. Slowinski, flying an F-94B on a practice run, to investigate. The pilot saw a bright, flashing, colored light at the location of the blip 29 miles west of Port Huron and followed it for 20 minutes, but he was unable to close on the object. Eberhart cites NICAP (Key Radar Case, CCL #17), Sparks, James E. McDonald's 1968 statement to the House Committee on Science and Astronautics and case files of the Center for UFO Studies. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
