Background

UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill wrote to William Sidney, Secretary of State for Air, and to his scientific adviser and friend Lord Cherwell: “What does all this stuff about flying saucers amount to? What can it mean? What is the truth? Let me have a report at your convenience.” The response, dated August 9, began: “The various reports about unidentified flying objects, described by the Press as ‘flying saucers,’ were the subject of a full Intelligence study in 1951.” Eberhart presumes this refers to the report of the Flying Saucer Working Party. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
