Somers, Connecticut: Prison farm guards and inmates see silvery object zigzag and climb
At 10:10 a.m. on September 6, 1952, two guards and 13 inmates at the Osborn Prison Farm in Somers, Connecticut, saw a silvery object descend in a zigzag and shoot upward at a right angle.
Background
At 10:10 a.m. Walter Borys and George McCracken, two guards at the Osborn Prison Farm (now Osborn Correctional Institution) in Somers, Connecticut, were in the yard with 13 inmates when they heard an odd motor noise and saw a silvery object in the northern sky. It seemed to descend in a zigzag motion, then stopped, released a puff of smoke and shot upward at a right angle at great speed. Other witnesses in the area thought it was a jet aircraft. The Hartford Courant reported the sighting on September 7, 1952, and on September 19 published an article attributing the "flying saucer" to a jet's afterburner. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
