Desert Center, California: George Adamski says he meets the Venusian "Orthon"
On November 20, 1952, in the desert near Desert Center, California, George Adamski said he met and communicated for about 45 minutes with a being named Orthon from Venus while six companions watched from a distance.
Background
At 2:15 p.m., while packing up his telescope, George Adamski saw a man waving to him from about a quarter-mile away, walked over and, by his account, met a being named Orthon while his six companions watched from a distance. Adamski described Orthon as about five and a half feet tall with long blond hair and said he learned through gestures, sign language, a few words and telepathy that Orthon came from Venus and that Venusians were visiting Earth out of concern about nuclear weapons. The conversation lasted about 45 minutes; Orthon declined to be photographed but asked to borrow an unexposed photographic plate, then left in his "scout ship" around 3:04 p.m. Adamski then found footprints in the desert floor containing symbols, and around 3:45 p.m. George Hunt Williamson made plaster casts of them before the group returned to Desert Center. Adamski published the account in Flying Saucers Have Landed (1953); James W. Moseley and later authors critically examined and contested it. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
