Event
On February 21, 1952, Lieut. Gen. Otto P. Weyland, commander of the Far East Air Forces, told journalists that no conclusive assessment of the observations was yet available. The sightings occurred during the Korean War over North Korean territory.
Witnesses and Evidence
The witnesses were crew members of two B-29 bombers, among them tail and fire control operators. Reports reached Air Force Intelligence. Newspaper articles in the Rock Island Argus and Stars and Stripes documented Weyland's statement; Project 1947 holds the records.
Significance
