Background

Personnel of the USAF Air Defense Command's 82nd Fighter Interceptor Squadron at Larson AFB (now Grant County International Airport), Moses Lake, all on the ground, saw a green, disc-shaped object about the size of a large weather balloon flying to the southwest. It bobbed vertically and moved sideways at about 8,000 feet below scattered clouds, then moved away against the wind until it disappeared in the distance. Base personnel at Ephrata, Washington, also observed the object. An F-94 was scrambled at 7:43 a.m. and searched for 30 minutes, but the object was gone. James E. McDonald cited the case in his 1968 statement to the House Committee on Science and Astronautics. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
