Rock Hill, South Carolina: Taxi driver sees torpedo-shaped object with windows streak past
On the night of February 27, 1953, taxicab driver Frank Cox in Rock Hill, South Carolina, braked hard when a rocket- or torpedo-shaped object with window-like openings and a blue flame streaked past about 75 feet above the ground; a car and a truck also stopped.
Background
At night Frank Cox, a taxicab driver in Rock Hill, South Carolina, was driving to pick up a fare near a local tavern when he slammed on his brakes after seeing a rocket- or torpedo-shaped object streak past. The object was about 5 feet long, had 6–8 window-like openings, trailed a blue flame and moved faster than a jet aircraft. It passed an estimated 75 feet above the ground, and a car and a truck stopped as well. A truck driver came to the taxi and asked, "Buddy, did you see what I saw?"; Cox said he was too frightened to respond. The Rock Hill Herald and the Columbia Record reported the sighting the next day. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
