Background

Titanium prospector John Q. Black saw a silvery object, 8 feet in diameter, land on a sand bar at the junction of Jordan and Marble Creeks in Plumas National Forest, northern California. On June 20 the object returned with a barrel-chested "midget pilot" in a forest-green outfit and a peaked cap; the craft rested on a rock about 40 feet away on tripod-like landing gear. The pilot filled a rubber-like pail with creek water and went back inside after hearing Black step on a stick, and the craft took off at a 45-degree angle with a hissing sound. Black said he had seen the object seven times, first on March 20, always alone, so his partner John Van Allen could not corroborate the story. The expected return on July 20 did not occur while scores of sightseers gathered in the Brush Creek area. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
