United States: 4602nd AISS takes over nearly all Blue Book field investigations
By July 1953, the Air Force's 4602nd Air Intelligence Service Squadron had taken over nearly all of Project Blue Book's field investigations.
Background
The 4602nd Air Intelligence Service Squadron (AISS) took over nearly all of Project Blue Book's field investigations. Under the arrangement, the unit was to send its reports to ATIC for evaluation or explanation, and ATIC would decide whether a follow-up investigation was needed. In practice, the 4602nd carried out much of the analysis itself. Ruppelt and Jacobs describe the shift. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
