Background
At 1:00 p.m. on July 1, 1953, a 14-year-old cowherd, Maximo Munoz Olivares (or Hernáiz), saw a 'big balloon' on the ground behind him in Villares del Saz, Cuenca, Spain, after a faint whistling attracted his attention. The metallic object was shaped like a water jug. Through an opening came three dwarfs about 2 feet tall with yellow faces, narrow eyes and oriental features, dressed in blue with flat visored hats and metal sheets on their arms, speaking a language he could not understand. One of them smacked the boy's face; then they reentered the machine, which glowed very brightly, made a soft whistling sound and went off 'like a rocket.' Police found footprints and four holes 2 inches deep forming a perfect square 13 inches across. The entry notes a possible hoax. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
