British Columbia, Canada: Three U.S. Air Force servicemembers observe hovering blinking light

According to the official description, three U.S. Air Force servicemembers in British Columbia saw a round, blinking white light with a blue hue that first looked like a falling star, descended to about 150 feet, hovered twice and departed westward while climbing. The scanned report is largely illegible, so these details could not be checked against the document.

Background

The file is a U.S. Air Force Flying Objects Report from November 1953, filed under Air Force Regulation 200-2 of August 26, 1953. According to the official description, the three observers saw a round, blinking white light with a blue hue, initially resembling a falling star, which descended to an estimated 150 feet, remained stationary for about 30 seconds, rose vertically to about 300 feet, stood still for about 10 seconds and then left their field of view to the west while gaining altitude. The legible fragments of the form mention a falling star and clear, dark conditions without a moon and with stars clearly visible, and answer “None” to the questions about physical evidence, interception or identification action and other air traffic in the area. Because the text layer and the OCR of the scan are largely illegible, the date, location, number of observers and course of motion are taken from the official description only. The details are taken from records released by the U.S. Department of War in PURSUE Release 07 (record code DOW-UAP-D158) and do not represent an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
