Background

At 10:00 a.m. Mrs. W. J. Daily of La Puente, California, saw a silvery, bright, round object through binoculars. It tilted, revealing a fiery-red bottom, then spun and drifted away with an odd-looking vapor trail. A large amount of a cobweb-like substance fell on her property, and she took three samples to the Mount Wilson Observatory. The material apparently fell over three city blocks, catching on trees, fences and telephone wires. Mrs. Mel Barnes saw a similar white object spewing the material. Eberhart cites Pageant (November 1954), R. DeWitt Miller, Loren E. Gross and Michael D. Swords in the International UFO Reporter (2008). The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
