On April 18, 1954, Colin McCarthy and two other men driving in the Australian outback near the Western Australia–South Australia border photographed and filmed an object pacing their car; shortly after they reported it, an RAAF officer arrived by helicopter and confiscated the photos and film, which were never returned.
Background
On April 18, 1954, Colin McCarthy and two other men were driving an Austin sedan in the Australian outback near the border of Western Australia and South Australia when a UFO began pacing them. They took some 200 photographs and some ciné film of the object. Shortly after they reported the incident, a helicopter suddenly appeared and landed in front of their car. An RAAF officer got out, walked over to the car and confiscated the photographs and film, which were never returned. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
