Eliot, Maine: Wilbert B. Smith visits contactee Frances Swan, promised radio call fails
On 28 July 1954 Wilbert B. Smith visited the contactee Frances Swan in Eliot, Maine, at the invitation of retired Rear Adm. Herbert B. Knowles; a radio contact Smith requested from her “space friends” did not come through.
Background
Wilbert B. Smith, at the invitation of retired Navy Rear Adm. Herbert B. Knowles, visited the contactee Frances Swan, Knowles's neighbour, in Eliot, Maine. Her two space friends, Affa and Alomar, were said to direct Swan's hand to draw a series of circles demonstrating the use of magnetic fields in spacecraft propulsion. Smith asked the aliens to communicate by radio at an appointed time a few days later, but no message came through. Smith nevertheless tried to decipher the charts in the hope of learning how to build a saucer for Canada. Eberhart cites an FBI Washington report on Frances Swan of 2 August 1954 (PURSUE release), Fitzgerald in Second Look (1979) and Clark. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
