On September 15, 1954, mica mine manager Ijapada Chatterjee and hundreds of others watched a disc descend to about 500 feet over the villages of Kadori, Barshi and Mangalda in Manbhum district, India.
Background
On September 15, 1954, Ijapada Chatterjee, manager of the Kadori mica mine, and hundreds of others watched a disc descend to an altitude of about 500 feet over three adjoining villages, Kadori, Barshi and Mangalda, in Manbhum district (given in the entry as West Bengal), India. The disc hovered, then soared upward at terrific speed, creating a tremendous gust of wind. According to the entry, the object was over a mine that supplied beryllium to the US Atomic Energy Commission. The Times of India reported the sighting on October 3, 1954, under the headline “800 Biharis See Flying Saucer.” The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
