Background

Around 4:30 p.m. Georges Gatay and his team of construction workers at Marcilly-sur-Vienne, Indre-et-Loire, saw a disc-shaped object on the ground with a small, helmeted being standing nearby. The being held an elongated object that "could have been a pistol, or it could have been a metal rod" and wore a light projector on its chest. Gatay tried to run but found himself unable to move until the object left; his seven coworkers reported the same, which the sources describe as a unique case of collective physiological reaction. Eberhart judges the case almost certainly a hoax. He cites Vallée's Passport to Magonia, Loren E. Gross and Patrick Gross. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
