Background

Around 10:30 p.m. 34-year-old metal worker Marius Dewilde came out of his house at Quarouble, Nord, France, to see why his dog was barking. With his flashlight he saw two creatures beyond his fence walking in single file toward a dark object sitting on the railroad tracks; they were about 3.5 feet tall, with wide shoulders, short legs and helmets covering large heads, and no faces or arms were visible. When he tried to cut them off and came within 6 feet, he was paralyzed by a powerful orange beam projected from a square opening in the object. The creatures reached the tracks, a door closed, and the object rose to about 100 feet, hovered and sped away. Five imprints on three wooden railroad ties were found, which an engineer estimated were made by an object weighing about 30 tons; French police and the French Air Force investigated the case. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
