Background
On October 5, 1954, a spindle-shaped UFO was seen for 20 minutes by hundreds of people over El Mahalla El Kubra, Egypt. At Bahnay, aerial cylinders emitted dark smoke; one exploded, knocking a farmer to the ground and killing two cows whose hides showed burn marks. Lt. Tewrik photographed a rotating, smoke-emitting UFO above El-Qantara el-Sharqiya on the western side of the Suez Canal and sent the photo to the Egyptian Army and to the Khedivial Astronomical Observatory in Helwan. Adm. Youssef Hammad, director of the Egyptian Ports and Lights Administration, alerted pilots and astronomers to watch for UFOs over Cairo. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
