Campo Grande: Spheres land, beings collect soil
A fisherman near Campo Grande, Brazil, observed two spheres landing nearby. Small beings emerged, gathered soil samples using tools, then departed, leaving square holes analyzed by the Air Force.
Background
Witness and Observation
A man was fishing in a river near Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil on December 15, 1954 when an object landed about 180 metres away. His dog became agitated and howled.
Object Description
Through the sight of his rifle he made out two spheres of different sizes; the smaller circled the larger, which hovered two metres above the ground and carried three spheres on its underside.
Beings and Activities
Shortly afterwards small figures appeared, descending quickly from the large object. One carried a glowing bucket, another a metal tube with a conical tip. They took chalky soil from the bank, filled two containers, and returned to the object, which lifted off.
Evidence and Investigation
The witness later found square depressions in the bank. Colonel Adil de Oliveira of the Brazilian air force had the soil tested: 61% silicon dioxide, 19% aluminium oxide, 11% magnesium and iron, plus trace elements. (Source: Lorenzen, Flying Saucer Occupants, 1967, pp. 195β196)
