Chabeuil: Woman encounters short being near top-shaped craft
On September 26, 1954, at 2:30 p.m. in Chabeuil, France, Lucette Leboeuf saw a small entity in a translucent helmet and suit while walking her dog. The being approached hopping; she fled as a circular object about 3 metres (10 feet) in diameter and 50 centimetres thick rose from a cornfield at high speed, leaving ground traces.
Background
Witness and Encounter
Lucette Leboeuf was walking her dog at 14:30 on September 26, 1954 in Chabeuil, Drôme, when she noticed a small being. It wore a transparent helmet and a diving suit-like overall, with large eyes visible through the faceplate. The creature approached with a hopping gait, whereupon the dog barked and she fled into a thicket.
Object and Departure
A circular craft approximately 3 metres in diameter and 50 cm thick took off from behind the cornfield. It rose swiftly and disappeared at enormous speed. Others later found a circle 3 metres across with compacted earth and grass, and branches broken from above.
Aftermath and Significance
The witness was so shaken that she remained in bed for two days. The event belongs to the intense wave of sightings in France in 1954, with physical traces and a close encounter of the third kind, documented in Eberhart's timeline and in Patrick Gross's analysis.
