Tollgate, Oregon: Bright light follows snowplow crew for two hours
In January 1955, at 2:30 a.m., snowplow operators Manuel "Swede" Erickson and Barney Thompson on the Weston-Elgin Highway toward Tollgate, Oregon, were approached and followed for about two hours by a bright light that cast a shadow over their truck.
Background
At 2:30 a.m. snowplow operators Manuel "Swede" Erickson and Barney Thompson were driving east on the Weston-Elgin Highway toward Tollgate, Oregon, when an unusually bright light appeared in front of them, approached and grew brighter, then moved up and down and sideways. It was bright enough to cast a shadow over the truck, moved to the right through trees and returned to the highway behind them; when they turned to follow it, it receded, and when they resumed driving east, it followed them. They kept it in sight for about two hours before it left down the Umatilla Canyon, stopping occasionally. About two weeks later they saw a similar bluish light at about 4:00 a.m. on two nights in a row, and other witnesses came forward. The La Grande Evening Observer reported the lights from January 28 to 31, 1955. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
