Background
The 4602nd Air Intelligence Service Squadron (AISS) completed its guide to investigating UFOs, the "UFOB Guide", and distributed it to the appropriate personnel. According to Eberhart, the new methods of investigating and classifying cases resulted in a drop in the percentage of unknowns from 60% in August 1954 to 5.9% in 1955 and 0.4% in 1956. The guide is reproduced in the History of the 4602d AISS for January 1 to June 30, 1955; Eberhart also cites David Jacobs, The UFO Controversy in America. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
