Background

At 8:15 p.m. Richard Scholl and his wife Virginia, driving near Culver and Angevine Roads in Albion, New York, noticed a huge, brilliant red light suspended in the sky. It began moving slowly and appeared to follow their car, emitting a steady glare without blinking lights. At the home of Mr. and Mrs. Allen J. McKenna on Angevine Road they heard a loud humming as the object hovered over nearby woods and descended; the light then disappeared and the sound faded to a low buzz. John McKenna, 13, also saw it drop into the woods from his bedroom window. When the Scholls left around 9:45 p.m., the object rose from the trees, followed them briefly, then shot straight up and moved west before disappearing; Richard Scholl reported the incident to the Orleans County sheriff's office. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
