Cincinnati, Ohio: Oily red substance seems to fall from colored cloud, peach tree dies

Around 6:00 p.m. on July 22, 1955, Edward Mootz was mowing his lawn on Boal Street in Cincinnati, Ohio. Standing next to a 6-foot peach tree, he noticed a dark-red, oily substance falling on him. About 1,000 feet up he saw a cloud colored dark green, red and pink, from which the substance seemed to fall. He began to feel burning on his arms and hands where the drops had touched him, went inside and washed it off. The next morning he found that the peach tree had died overnight, its leaves completely fallen off. The account follows the entry in George M.
