Background

At 9:05 p.m. Eddy Geddes noticed a fireball while driving from Whitefish to Kalispell, Montana. He stopped at a Ground Observer post and notified the women stationed there. Jets were scrambled from Malmstrom AFB in Great Falls and arrived shortly after midnight, long after the object was gone, but another fireball was apparently seen later. The same scenario recurred on September 4, when five F-94C Starfire jets and other aircraft from Great Falls and Spokane, Washington, were sent to the Kalispell area. The Missoulian reported the searches on September 5, 1955. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
